locust
crushed
crushed is a dance/music/video performance in which control and chaos alternate as the ensemble takes on the notion of being blindsided and the physical impact of being caught off guard. Dancers sing and musicians dance in this feverishly physical dissection of cause and effect. Zeke Keeble's electronic soundscape is the environment in which Amy O'Neal's dance vocabulary of contemporary/hip-hop dance unfolds.
locust is the performance brainchild of musician and composer Zeke Keeble and performer/choreographer Amy O’Neal. Since 2000, they have created Leave me Inside (2001), Left-out (2002), DEFACE (2004), convenience (TBA 2005), and mockumentary (2006). locust performs in theaters, nightclubs, galleries, and streets and has been presented in Seattle by On the Boards, the Seattle Art Museum, Experience Music Project, Northwest Film Forum, Seattle Theater Group, Bumbershoot, and Velocity Dance Center. Nationally, they have performed at Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out (MA), The Myrna Loy Center (MT), Joyce Soho (NYC), SUSHI Performing Arts (CA), and Bates Dance Festival (ME). locust has been described as the avant-garde garage band of the Seattle dance scene.
crushed has received funding and development support from On the Boards and Creative Capital. This project was made possible by the National Performance Network's Performance Residency Program. Major contributors to the NPN include the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Ford Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts (a federal agency), Altria, and the Nathan Cummings Foundation. www.npnweb.org.

locust is refreshingly one of the few modern dance groups situated to make direct social commentary with their art. Andrea Liu, NYArts Magazine
