On Labor Day, bring your neighborhood picnic to TBA. With a flurry of planting, harvesting, and cooking, Slow Food Portland will take over the TBA:09 lawn to stage a sprawling picnic that reframes an abandoned lot within an urban grid of neighborhoods and gardens. Planted in the heart of a busy city, the picnic will blend conversation, art, civic activism, and an agri-utopian vision. Bring a meal you've prepared yourself, grown in your garden, or foraged from local farmers. Share in the making of community and the making of a feast.

Join artist Wayne Bund in a series of "ungames" on the lawn; break bread with Tricia Martin, who has curated a participatory project by Alexandre Bettler called The Bread Friend Map; sample delicacies from local street vendors; and make sure to bring your lawn chairs!

Slow Food Portland seeks to reconnect people with the food they eat and the cultures, community, and production behind it. As one of more than 200 local chapters of Slow Food USA, SFPDX carries out a grassroots mission at a regional level, while participating in a global movement for real food. Through lectures, tours, demonstrations, and volunteer action, SFPDX works to create a community in which every individual has access to good, clean, and fair food in their daily life.
