BLINGLAB

The Untold Misadventures of Lewis & Clark

TBA pass holder reservations required. Call TBA Central 503.224.PICA.

Utilizing hand-constructed puppets made from thrift store cast-offs, BlingLab presents a bumbling set of explorers by reading between the lines of Lewis & Clark’s infamous expedition. This historically based parody is presented as a homoerotic, Bollywood-style musical romp as the traveling salesmen make their way across the Sasquatch-infested West. Developed during a Caldera Artist Residency, this presentation coincides with the 2006 Bicentennial celebration of the Lewis and Clark Trail. Written and produced by the artists with original music by Jody Hughes, art direction by Andy Bacon Pinard, Ann Freeman and Walt Curtis, and technical direction by Amy Harwood, Jake O’Donnell and Marey Rian.

Blinglab is an artist collective consisting of Marne Lucas and Bruce Conkle and includes a rotating roster of guest artists. Marne Lucas is a visual artist known for her photographic portraiture and installations using nature, pop-culture and sexuality as fundamental themes in her work. Lucas is a recipient of a 2006 RACC Project Grant for her upcoming artist portrait series. Bruce Conkle is a visual and installation artist whose work examines nature and culture. Conkle’s work has recently been included in the collection of The Portland Art Museum. He has an upcoming solo show in Reykjavik, and is part of the American Nightmare exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.
