John Blasioli grew up in Connecticut, with a fondness for drawing and the Hartford Whalers. He received a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont, focusing on labor studies and domestic production. Blasioli initially began sewing as a creative response to his education.
He moved to Portland, Oregon after school and deepened focus on sewing and design. In 2005, he launched a menswear line under the name “a broken spoke” that continued until 2008. In fall of 2009, he released his first collection under his own name. In 2010 he was hired as one-third of the design team behind Pendleton’s contemporary line The Portland Collection, where he designed for five seasons. He released capsule collection with Bridge & Burn in fall of 2015. Blasioli is currently focusing on special projects and on relaunching his eponymous line.
