In the mid 2000s Brendan Fowler was best known for BARR, his one-person heart-on-sleeve pop deconstruction/performance art project. As BARR, he performed in art contexts, galleries, and museums, but more frequently he played in basements, all ages underground venues, DIY spaces, and rock clubs. After a shift to sculpture and visual art projects, Fowler is returning to performance under a new guise: And Martin (11). Details about And Martin are still unfolding, but one can imagine classic Fowler, known for constantly processing his own past in public. In his own words, Fowler describes And Martin as “a lot of talking and music—and I’ve been covering BARR songs.”
